A Glimpse of Perfection

4 The one thing I ask of the LORD—
      the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
      delighting in the LORD’s perfections
      and meditating in his Temple.

Psalm 27: 4 NLT

What about God is perfect? Everything.  His love, compassion, counseling, plans, grace, joy, discipline.  It’s easy for us to forget the Lord’s perfections when we get caught up in work, family life, traveling, sports, and other distractions.  When we get busy we tend to place God in a box with a pre-designated description on it.  Maybe he’s “the One I praise every morning,” or “the One I go to when I need something,” or “the One I focus on each Sunday morning.”

Why not add to our descriptions by focusing

on one of his perfections every week?  For example, this week he could become “the One I praise every morning and who loves me more than I can possibly imagine.”  Then next week he could become “the One I praise every morning and who has wonderful plans for my future that are better than any plans I could ever make.”

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, please help me to understand how amazing you are and how perfect you are for me.

Which one of God’s perfections will you focus on this week?
